Collection for furniture starts

Two skips will be brought to the parking lot of House D on Friday 20th May. The smaller one is for gardening waste and the high-walled one for furniture.

Residents may carry their old, useless furniture into this bigger skip during the weekend. The collection goes on until Monday 23rd May.

In contrary to last autumn's waste collection, NO ELECTRIC OR ELECTRONIC WASTE IS ALLOWED INTO THE SKIP. Mustankorkea waste treatment centre demands a hazardous waste treatment fee for the whole skip if household appliances are mixed with furniture. A heavy skip like this would cost us 1000 euros. We do not want to pay for this in our future rent, will we?

However, the fee applies only for housing communities and companies. Individual tenants may themselves take their computers, monitors and kitchen appliances to Mustankorkea for free. So ask a neighbour with a car to drive you both to Mustankorkea to get rid of old electric junk, or take them to the store for disposal when you buy some new gizmo.
