Walkers Youth Café starts to operate in February in Keltinmäki Youth Centre premises, Keltinmäentie 15 D, (maplink). The first Walkers Café is held on Friday 24th February from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. After that, doors to Walkers are open every Friday at the same time.
Walkers is a registered brand of Children of the Station registered association (Aseman lapset ry in Finnish), which is a nation-wide organisation and a member of Central Union for Child Welfare in Finland. Walkers seeks currently adult voluntary workers to tend the Café. The volunteers are trained to the work on Saturday 11th February. Grown-ups who are interested in voluntary youth work may apply via Walkers web page, http://www.walkers.fi/sivut/ilmoittaudu.html (the application form only in Finnish).
Keltinmäki Youth Centre is located in the Keltinmäki library building. Access to the Centre is from the door on the side of the walkway. The Youth Centre is for young people between 10 and 18 years, and it is open on several evenings every week. Furthermore, outside the opening hours the premises of the Youth Centre are leasable to organisations, associations and private citizens. The size of the premises is approx. 200 m2 including, for example, a proper kitchen and small dressing rooms with a shower.
You may contact the youth workers if you have questions about the youth evenings or if you want to lease the place.
